Aikido

Orangerie

Aikido is a modern, Japanese martial art. The word Aikido can be translated as: “the way of harmony” or more ambitiously as “the way of harmony with the universe”. Aikido is a non-competitive martial art that is based on redirecting the attacker’s momentum as opposed to blocking it or using violence.

In Aikido Orangerie we practice together in a collaborative, non-competitive manner. Practice is based on mutual respect as we strive for connection within ourselves and with our partners. This allows for self-exploration of body and mind and building of personal integrity while promoting a sense of community.   In our dojo we support inclusiveness and diversity and we welcome everyone who is interested to train with us.

We are training under the technical guidance of Janet Clift Sensei and Eamonn Devlin Sensei at Aikido of Athens.

Our dojo is in partnership with Aikikai Limoges in France, led by Nuria Scapin Sensei. We share a common vision and values, both in our Aikido practice and in our lives outside the dojo. We are frequently organizing  joint seminars to enhance our exchange and strengthen our community.
